- L-Lysine Supplement: All clients are advised to take 1,000mg of the over-the-counter L-Lysine daily for at least one week before the procedure. This can help reduce the likelihood of an outbreak.
- Valtrex Prescription: If you are highly prone to cold sores, consult your doctor about a prescription for Valtrex (valacyclovir), a common antiviral medication used to treat cold sores. You should take Valtrex as follows:
- 2 Days Before the Procedure: Begin taking the prescribed dose.
- Day of the Procedure: Take the morning dose as directed.
- 4 Days After the Procedure: Continue taking the medication as prescribed.
